But once you've read Parker's book you immediately realise that this book is just collection of tips from Parker drafted in comics. Without explanations of course. I don't do anything unless I believe the tip is sound and this book does not convince me. Yeah, it's funny for a while but it does not supply the enthusiast the facts really needed to improve in free heels stuff.

The expert and elite skiers many find a variety of technical errors, or that the text is overly complex - lacks a consolidated and simple understanding of skiing, but for the sport racer the book is a good one to have on the shelf. I also recommend "Tao of Skiing" which takes an entirely different approach.

I found this book, with many fine pictures and clear instructions to be very useful, at least for an intermediate skier who wants to improve. I question whether a complete novice could learn without instruction using this book, but the beginners section would probably be a good guide for instructors on useful beginners exercises.

The amazing thing is that... this CD cost me less than a day pass at the local ski site, and saved me years of floundering around on snow. Tao (the way) of skiing is a large web site on a CD-Rom, complete with ample advise (text, images and small movies). The movies were a lot of fun and the text was straight to the point. (The way you would want to be instructed). Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the package and appreciated what it has done for me... and I'm not hung on an occasional Typo.

I've skied with this book for one season now and found that the tips are relevant and enjoyable. Both the beginner and expert can learn from this book.
Personally, I've eliminated most of my bad skiing habits and not created any new ones, which is really praise. I've found handy tips on how to explain what I do to others while in class. This book has become an "on hill" teaching tool and stays in my day pack just for that purpose.
This compendium of "illustrations" keeps me fresh while teaching, although the book is by no means intended for an instructor. The graphics are relevant, funny, and, relate the sense of joy that both authours must feel about telemarking.
The book's a giggle to re-read, for me, it can stimulate the sense of being on the snow even during an August heat wave.

This book has what you need to make progress as a skier. The photo sequences are highlighted to point out the objective. Any individual lesson or exercise can be used independently - so you can pick one as a refresher to practice on. The lessons are well sequenced with accurate and detailed descriptions of exercises. The book is readable and coherent.

There are a few of defenders of Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and other ski instruction books that have posted here and given what I think are unfair low ratings. I think they are somewhat narrow in their criticism. They seem to focus on the fact that he is not preaching the "approved" PSIA method. So what? Is there only one way to teach someone how to ski?

I personally used this book and advanced my ski skill and confidence in a few weeks, after having stagnated for a couple of years. I had taken numerous lessons from PSIA intructors and progress was slow. My opinion is that most self-motivated skiers could benefit from the lessons in this book (at a low price). Give it an honest try and then go pay $75 for a PSIA "approved" lesson and see which one gave you more insight and advancement. Oh my, Mr. Harb challenged the Ski Instructors PSIA church!
