Title : Anyone Can Be an Expert Skier 1: The New Way to Ski (Includes Bonus DVD) Author : Harald Harb Rating : 5 Stars out of 5. Summary : false information
Yes, this is the author of, "Anyone Can Be an Expert Skier." I am doing this to fairly represent a service for the public. Regular ski instructors don't want you to know about the PMTS. They misrepresent our product.
The PMTS Direct Parallel system is growing fast and our system works better than any other system. You can look for yourself on the forum listed below. Have a look at what real skiers are saying, skiers who have experienced the PMTS Direct Parallel first hand.
The poster who posted before me has no clue of what he is talking about, as we do not teach PMTS at Loveland and there are no qualified or accredited PMTS instructors at Loveland.
It maybe there are false instructors promoting themselves as a PMTS teachers. This is wrong and deceptive. Make sure before you book a PMTS instructor. PMTS instructors are listed and qualified, on the web site: www.pmts.org. A regular PSIA instructor can not teach PMTS, that's what this fellow experienced. You check with our web site for real PMTS instructors, who are trained and accredited. Here it is the forum:

Title : Trail Atlas of Michigan: Mountain Biking, Hiking, Cross-Country Skiing, and Nature Trails. Author : Dennis Hansen Rating : 5 Stars out of 5. Summary : I wish there was a book like this for every state!
This is an excellent book for anyone who lives in Michigan. We've used it for hiking and cross country skiing, and it provides excellent accurate information.
Title : Hermann Maier: The Race of My Life Author : Hermann Maier Rating : 3 Stars out of 5. Summary : Amazing Comeback
Herman's book can be subtitled "Don't count me down and out just yet...." And this is the recurring theme throughout.
Perhaps it's the translation into English, but the Herminator comes across as not only a great athlete, but a little too self-centered! It's as everything revolves around his being and return to winning, no make that crushing his competitors and not just the race hill. You can almost "see and hear" the snorting, growling, grimacing in the start gate as you read this book - yet you don't really get a true feeling of what all this means to him other than competition, endorsements, and being the all conquering focus for the Austrians - not even his team mates. But somewhat like Bode Miller, Maier came from "outside" the alpine racing mainstream and perhaps that's why he appears to remain somewhat outside the norm.
I read Bode's book at the same time and in the end, you sure know which guy you want to sit and have a beer with or ski a run with.
Title : Anyone Can Be an Expert Skier 2: Powder, Bumps, and Carving (Includes Bonus DVD) Author : Harald Harb Rating : 5 Stars out of 5. Summary : This is the way to expert skiing
Anyone Can Be An Expert Skier 2 is the second in a series that describes a fully modern, systematic instruction method and approach to skiing that, unlike traditional ski area teaching, takes full advantage of the most modern equipment. With a scientific understanding of the actual (bio)mechanics of skiing and clear, simple, powerful instruction, this book has finally brought true expert skiing within my reach.
After (too) many seasons working with traditional or mainstream PSIA instructors, some of them friends, with few results other than frustration at their obvious lack of understanding of their own sport (and a smaller bank account), I began looking at other ski teaching systems, starting with the very good Breakthrough on Skis by Lito Tejada-Flores. But when I found Harald Harb's books and videos, and his Primary Movements Teaching System, that's when my skiing really began to take off. Why? Because Harb's approach, besides displaying a great depth of knowlege of skiing dynamics, offers simple explanations of simple yet powerful movements of specific body parts, explained clearly as to their function and execution, that immediatly began to transform my skiing.
After working with the Harb material for two seasons now it is clear to me that his is the best approach, with absolutly superior results. Harb has more depth, clarity, and detail than Tejada-Flores and is FAR superior to the muddle of tradition and misunderstanding that is mainstream PSIA teaching. My skiing has gone from stuck (frustrated, pissed off) stemming my turns and being uncomfortable with any terrain that wasn't blue groomed to being totaly cool with bowls, bumps, steeps, you name it, and I'm having an absolute blast!.
Skiing isn't hard. With the right movements, it can be incredibly easy. This book and DVD (and book 1) is for anyone of reasonable athletic ability who desires to learn the movements and develop the balance necessary for true expert skiing in all terrain. I highly recommend it.
Title : Ollie's Ski Trip Author : Elsa Maartman Beskow Rating : 5 Stars out of 5. Summary : Gorgeous, old-world art and story
Ollie gets his first pair of skiis and uses them in the woods near his home somewhere in Scandanavia. He meets up with Jack-Frost, and some other colorful characters. The art-work is of a style and beauty long missing in childrens' books. Ms. Beskow's drawings are from an earlier period in children's literature, and are quite nostaligic for those of us raised with our grandparent's childrens' books.
Title : Trail Atlas of Michigan: Mountain Biking, Hiking, Cross-Country Skiing, and Nature Trails. Author : Dennis Hansen Rating : 5 Stars out of 5. Summary : Great resource

Title : Trail Atlas of Michigan: Mountain Biking, Hiking, Cross-Country Skiing, and Nature Trails. Author : Dennis Hansen Rating : 4 Stars out of 5. Summary : the best trails in michigan all in one book
This book has some of the best trails in Michigan and directions to all of them. It lets you know the level of difficulty for each one. I recommend this book for anyone interested in exploring the great outdoors.
Title : Dawson's Guide to Colorado's Fourteeners, Vol. 1: The Northern Peaks Author : Rating : 5 Stars out of 5. Summary : Year Round Guide is Tops
I've read seemingly every 14er guide available. Much of the information overlaps as one can imagine. However, what really sets this (and the companion volume as well) one apart is the truly four season information that it provides. Louis gives you ratings for summer and snow climbs as well as ski descents. None of the other 14er guides I've read give you that. These volumes are often compared to Gerry Roach's books which are excellent in their own right. However, in my mind the information in Louis Dawson's guides is better as many of us climb in seasons other than summer!
Title : Everything the Instructors Never Told You About Mogul Skiing Author : Dan Dipiro Rating : 5 Stars out of 5. Summary : At last, a practical book on mogul skiing.
First, I am 63 and have been skiing for 40+ years. I now live in Southern California but generally ski at either Mammoth or Snowbird. I can turn my skis right and left and can usually get down most of the in-bounds trails at most resorts including the mogul runs. I like it all, but I really like bump skiing.
To that end, I want to give Dan DiPiro a big THANK YOU for writing Everything... . Frankly, my experience suggests he's absolutely right when he says that most ski instructors do not know how to ski bumps and try to teach people to ski bumps using racing technique. So while I do OK in the bumps, I have never quite mastered skiing the zipper line the bump skiers use.
Of course, it never dawned on my until read Dan's book, that the problem was not me, but my not knowing the techniques that the pro bump skiers used. I found the way in which he broke down the differences between trail and mogul skiing to make a lot of sense and I am looking forward to using the exercises he includes in his book to develop an alternate skill set that I can use to improve my bump skiing. So here's to Dan - for making a major contribution to skiing in general and my bump skiing in particular.
Title : All-Mountain Skier : The Way to Expert Skiing Author : R. Mark Elling Rating : 5 Stars out of 5. Summary : All-Mountain Skier
I've bought three books about skiing recently and this is the best. I'm an aspiring expert skier. This book is really helping me reach my goals. The book has a chapter each on the repertoire of fundamental skills like stance, steering, outside ski dominance, edging, pressure control, etc. The book would great for that alone. But the book in later chapters explains how to use these tools to carve, ski powder, crud, bumps, steeps and trees. I'm reading this book again and again. It's the bible for people wanting to be and expert skier.
